Wow! Top 15 Gay Bars in the U.S. ....Check out this List!

Updated: May 23

Gay bars have long been a vital refuge for the LGBTQ+ community, providing a sanctuary where love, self-expression, and acceptance can flourish. These spaces have not only offered a haven from the discrimination and prejudice faced by many LGBTQ+ individuals but have also played a significant role in shaping the community's history, culture, and identity.

Over the years, gay bars have evolved and transformed to cater to the changing needs and tastes of the LGBTQ+ community. From their early days as clandestine and hidden establishments to the vibrant, inclusive spaces they are today, gay bars have been instrumental in creating a safe environment for people to come together, celebrate, and support one another.

15. Crown Bar- Provincetown, MA

Not only is it one of P-town's most prominent facades, with its grand columned portico and tower, but performers from the Cabaret—usually in drag—boisterously regale passers-by. The hotel business is a sideline; this is the town's "largest entertainment complex," true to its roots in the mid-19th century when Timothy P. Johnson built the Central House (its first name) as a public hall for shows and entertainment, a bowling alley and—quite as important—a saloon.

14. The Blue Whale - Fire Island, The Pines

This is where the Tea Dance started back in 1966. Every summer weekend, you will find the Blue Whale packed with gay men from all over the country. A truly historic gay bar on an island rich with gay history.

13. Island House - Key West

Summertime at the Island House poolside bar is a fun and memorable experience. Clothing is optional, the drinks are strong, and the people at this resort are some of the friendliest gays in the US!
